Media Fast

*I posted earlier so go down and read it I just felt like this needed it's own post.

At the beginning of the month we decided to go on a "media fast". We had heard of someone else doing it and we thought it would be a great way to prepare for General Conference that comes the first weekend in April. We are only watching movies, listening to music, and reading books that bring us closer to Christ. I've really enjoyed listening to past talks from conference, reading more, and learning more about my Savior.
We were able to purchase a whole bunch of books and movies from deseretbook.com and ldscatalog.org. it's been Awesome!!! Some that I would really recommend are: 21 Days Closer to Christ, Spriritually Anchored in Unsettled Times, and Hearing the Voice of the Lord. They are amazing so far! Our goal in doing this is to get more out of the words spoken in General Conference. I've always enjoyed listening to our living prophet and Apostles of the Lord but this time I hope to get a lot more out of it for my personal life.
We've even found things to help Nathan and knowlton do this with us. Nathan has enjoyed the Veggietales movies we got from the library. We got a gospel art book from ldscatalog.org which has a picture to go with every scripture story! It's got 165 pictures in it!!! I love it! We found some pictures to cut out and make quiet books to do at church and at home.
It was a little weird at first trying to remember not to turn on the radio but I got used to it and now I love it! I feel like I can feel the Spirit more and there's more peace in our home. Oh yeah!! And one more really super cool thing we got from Deseretbook.com was the Clearplay DVD player!!!! It hasn't come yet but it's on it's way! It is a DVD player that has filters for TONS of movies you can down load from the internet. They have edited all the bad words, sexual content, nudity, and violence!! I'm so excited! No more worrying about what we're watching.
